Getting to Lewis

Getting to the Outer Hebrides, or Western Isles as we are also known, is a lot easier than you might imagine! With regular ferry and air services, the islands are an ideal destination for a getaway weekend, or a very special holiday to remember.

 By Sea

The ferry service to Lewis and Harris has three routes, all run by Caledonian MacBrayne

Approximate Flying times from:

  • Glasgow - Stornoway 50 mins
  • Edinburgh - Stornoway 1hr 05mins
  • Aberdeen - Stornoway 55 mins
  • Inverness - Stornoway 40 mins

By Plane

All flights arrive at Stornoway Airport which is less than ten minutes drive from Ui Church.

Flybe operated by Loganair operate flights 4 times daily, Monday to Saturday, to Stornoway from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness.
There is a Sunday flight from Glasgow.  If you are island hopping there are also daily flights from Glasgow to Barra and Benbecula, from Monday to Saturday. 

Eastern Airways operate one flight from Aberdeen Monday - Friday.
