EAGLAIS NA H-AOIDHE, AIGNIS, ISLE OF LEWIS: SHORELINE EROSION EXCAVATION AND RECORDING FINAL REPORT

During 2024 the archaeological remains which had been removed during the excavations of the erosion scars in 2015 and 2018 were analysed. This was done by AOC Archaeology and funded by Point and Sandwick Trust. The analysis revealed at least five midden deposits with substantial quantities of ceramic, animal bone and shellfish remains from a clearly defined stratigraphic sequence. The ceramics are mainly local handmade pottery.
